šŸŽ¾ Djokovic Wins at Roland Garros

Well it was a while ago when Novak Djokovic won his first French Open. I wonde what he’s up to now? Oh, he’s competing in the semi-final tomorrow morning against 1-seed Jannik Sinner.

On this day in 2016, Novak Djokovic defeated Andy Murray in 4 sets to win his first French Open title. He dropped the first set, and then rallied off the next three to claim the win. He will need some absolute heroics to go through the gauntlet of Sinner and Alcaraz that are in front of him….but it would be legendary!

Glue GAL of the Day

āš¾ļø A Walk-Off With Historic Implications

6/5/25 Glue OTD: Ceddanne Rafaela

If you haven’t been paying attention to the MLB season at all this year, the Boston Red Sox have been losing. A good amount, and perhaps discovering new ways to lose along the way. But when the season looked it’s darkest yesterday, a glue guy rose to the occasion.

The Red Sox were on the brink of a 3-game sweep at home against the mediocre Los Angeles Angels heading into yesterday’s 1:35 PM first pitch. It was a bad day to be a pitcher, as the game was tied 9-9 in the ninth inning.

With the winning run on base, Ceddanne Rafaela stepped up to the plate. A phenomenal defender, Rafaela has been pretty shaky with the bat in his young career. He’s a prime strikeout candidate, but he has the ability to hit the long ball on occasion. He had hit a homer in each of the last two games, and a third would give the Red Sox the win in that moment.

Rafaela wrapped a 308 foot shot, the shortest walk-off homer in tracking history, around the right field pole to give Boston a jolt of life and the win in what felt like a season defining game in early June. It would have been a home run in only one park—Fenway. Sometimes, luck just may be on your side, but Boston hasn’t felt that all year. Yesterday, they just needed a glue guy.

Ceddanne Rafaela? GLUE. GUY.

Yesterday’s Moments

šŸ’ Oilers Take Game One in OVERTIME!

The Stump Short Story: The rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup Final got off to a great start last night. Last year’s 7-game series did not have a single OT game. This series took just 1 game. The Panthers jumped out to a 3-1 lead a few minutes into the second period. The Oilers then scored a 2nd and 3rd period goal to tie it at 3. Stuart Skinner really hunkered down after some early struggles, having some incredible saves late in the game.

The Panthers were in control for much of OT, but it was Connor McDavid to Leon Draisaitl that sealed the deal with 5 minutes to go in OT! Oilers go up, 1-0!

Why it Matters: For those of you who don’t watch hockey, if there was ever a time, the time is now. We’ve got the two best teams in the league facing off for the sports biggest prize. They faced off last year in a wild 7-game series, and now they are back at it again. Edmonton was able to get a much needed Game 1 win on their home ice!

āš¾ļø Colorado Heard the Haters

The Stump Short Story: It’s been well documented how much of a struggle it’s been to be a player, fan, or associated withe Colorado Rockies this year. They team hadn’t won a series all season until Tuesday when they won both the first two games of their three game series against the Miami Marlins. Yesterday, the Rockies had their best starter on the mound to go for the sweep. It was quite a gritty game, but Colorado pulled out the victory, 3-2. It was their first three-game sweep since May of 2024, more than a season ago.

Why it Matters: I hate to see everyone crap on the Rockies. Like seriously, what have they ever done to you? Every few days I’d see some new record for losing the team had broken, some dating back to as early as 1900. Baseball is just one of those sports that is such a grind, the season is so long, the games are long, they’re mentally draining, so losing like the Rockies have been can’t be fun. The Rockies let go of their manager just a few weeks back, but it’s fair to say that Bud Black had nothing to do with their poor performance. Rather, it’s probably due to their lack of big league experience and talent. The fans in Colorado deserve better.
