On This Day

😡 Mel Ott Was Red Hot

Mel Ott may be one of the most notable players in the history of the New York Giants baseball club, among all of his accolades, this one might be my favorite.

On this day in 1946, Mel Ott was pissed off. Despite being an MLB Hall of Famer as a player and a manager, Ott wasn’t afraid to lose his cool. Ott was so pissed on this day that he became the first manager in the history of baseball to be ejected from BOTH games of a doubleheader. Big mad. The Giants baseball club would lose both games to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

🏀 ‘The Others’ Help Tie Up The Finals!

Glue Guy OTD: The OKC ‘Others’

If you’re playing basketball in May and June, it only means good things. It means who probably have a superstar on your team, and then it means the cast around them is also unbelievable. These so called ‘Others’ really are what help you win playoff series and championships.

After the Game 1 shocker, OKC rebounded in Game 2, and it was the Others who stepped up!

It was Alex Caruso and Aaron Wiggins who both came off the bench and went 6/11 from the floor. Caruso went 4/8 from three and ended with 20 points. Wiggins ended 5/8 from three and ended with 18. Both of these totals were more than any Pacer had last night. Haliburton was the leading Pacers scorer with 17.

The OKC Others lit up the scoreboard and helped get them this win!

This series is all tied up at 1!

Yesterday’s Moments

🎾🏆️ Alcaraz Rallies to Win at Rolland Garros

The Stump Short Story: THIS. WAS. AWESOME! It was a LONG day on the clay courts for Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, 5 hours and 29 minutes to be exact. It was the longest French Open men’s final in the Open era and the second-longest men’s Grand Slam final ever. Woof, talk about a BATTLE. Alcaraz trailed 5-3, 0-40 in the fourth set, but managed to rally for his fifth career Gland Slam title. Carlos is the same age as his fellow countrymen and admitted idol, Rafa Nadal, when he won his fifth Grand Slam.

Why it Matters: There was a little bit of a gap in the world of tennis when the greats of Nadal and Federer hung it up and Djokovic entering into the latter years of his career. Now, it’s safe to say that the sport is in some really good hands. Sinner and Alcaraz produced an instant classic, to hush any doubters about the future of the sport. These two young stars will be around for years to come.

⛳️ Fox Keeps His Good Play Alive, Wins RBC Canadian Open

The Stump Short Story: This is New Zealand’s Ryan Fox’s second win in the last 5-weeks, he won the Myrtle Beach Classic last month. Yesterday, it took an insane side-door putt on the last hole of the day to send the tournament into extra holes. Fox and Sam Burns played four extra holes before Fox took his 3-wood out and hit it to about 7 feet before tapping in for a tournament winning birdie putt.

Why it Matters: In the world of golf, the guys like Ryan Fox are the real meat and potatoes of the PGA Tour. You don’t hear there names a lot, but they just play good golf and put themselves in contention. Winning tournaments like the RBC Canadian Open are really important for the career of these guys. It secures their spot on tour and it puts them into some of the biggest tournaments in the world for the years to come. These tournaments can make or break the future of these players. Oh, and a cool $1.7M doesn’t hurt the situation.
