Is it possible for there to be…’Too much Sports?’ HA! Not a shot! That being said we had a FULL SLATE yesterday. Alabama beat Georgia in what was no doubt the game of the year so far! A bunch of STUMPSETS across the rest of the slate, including (6) Ole Miss falling to Kentucky! And now we’ve got NFL Sunday! Enjoy it today!

Today’s Trivia🧠

🏈 Which of the following was not a nickname for a former NFL great?

  • A. The Bus

  • B. The Fridge

  • C. Mr. Everywhere

  • D. The Nigerian Nightmare

  • E. The Minister of Defense

(answer at the bottom of the Stump!)

On This Day…

Remembering the good times. Chicago this is for you. On this day in 2005, the Chicago White Sox clinched their first division title since 2000. They became the 10th team in baseball history to be in first place in their division every single day of the baseball season.

Coast to coast! And now they broke the record for most losses ever with 121! There are highs, there are lows, as is life!

What’s Worth Your Time

🏈 Alabama vs Georgia! Vol. 1,000,000!

Early EARLY candidate for game of the year last night. What an unbelievable way to end a great day of college football. Alabama defeated Georgia, 41-34, in a game that had a little bit of everything. Here’s how it went down…

Talk about a tale of two halves. After one quarter of football, the Tide were up 21-0! And they had a halftime lead of 30-7! It was ALL TIDE EARLY! Jalen Milroe was unstoppable. He really was unstoppable all day with a final line of 27/33 for 374 yards, 117 rush yards, and 4 total TDs. Video game numbers. Georgia’s No. 1 defense looked out of sorts for a majority of the game.

That being said, Coach Kirby Smart got the boys right for the second half and they almost completed THE BIGGEST COMEBACK in top-5 matchup history!

The key word there is ‘almost’. They held the lead for about 3.5 seconds late in the fourth quarter until Milroe connected with 17-year-old Ryan Williams for a 75-yard TD with 2 minutes left on the clock.

If you didn’t get a chance to watch it, do yourself a favor and watch the HIGHLIGHT VID!

Big win for Bama. MASSIVE win for Coach BeBoer. Have a feeling we could see this matchup again this year!

Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim were able to bring home a point for the International Team.

Team USA was able to win the afternoon session 3-1 as well and built up a cushiony 11-7 lead heading into Singles Sunday. The final day is simple. 12 matchups. Head-to-head. Toe-to-toe. Mono y mono. Let it rip! Here are the matchups today…

🏈 Injury Update for NFL Today

A lot of injury news in the NFL world today, here are a few of the things that might impact your fantasy lineup. Make sure to give those lineups and maybe even your waiver wire a quick peek!

  • 49ers: The fellas minus CMC are expected to be back tomorrow. Deebo and Kittle are both expected to play. Aiyuk had is week to shine and it was instead fantasy HERO Jauan Jennings who put on a show last Sunday. Maybe he keeps the magic going with both Deebo and Kittle back.

  • Jordan Love: After what seemed to be an UGLY injury in Week 1 against the Eagles. Jordan Love is expected to make his return today against the 3-0 Vikings. This is an early big-time matchup in the NFC North and the Packers have tried to get JLo healthy as quickly as possible, especially for this matchup.

  • Davante Adams: Raiders stud WR is now week-to-week with a hamstring injury. Can’t tell if this really occurred on the field or exactly as Andy Dalton was slicing and dicing his Raiders. We might be in for a BIG Brock Bowers game.

  • Justin Herbert: The absolute warrior that is Justin Herbert wouldn’t miss a Chiefs game for the world, especially in LA. This guy might be absolutely hobbling out there but by god, he’s going to try to give it a go. For how many series he’ll be out there still remains to be seen, but he is expected to start.

🏈 College Football Saturday, A Review!

A slate of college football on a Saturday is pretttty big. Here are some of the cliff notes from yesterday’s action…

  • DOWN GOES OLE MISS! Kentucky played Georgia extremely tough just a week ago, and now they were able to beat (6) Ole Miss in a gritty 20-17 game. With the 12-team playoff this year, 1 loss does not kill your team, but it is an early season wake-up call for Lane Kiffen and the boys! Kentucky is a gritty ball club! They’ll play you tough home or away!

  • (23) Kansas State def. (20) Oklahoma State, 42-20! What started out as a gritty, low-scoring game, picked up quickly after the first quarter. Kansas State RB DJ Giddens ran for 187 yards off of 15 rushes!

  • (12) Michigan wins another close one, this time against Minnesota, 27-24. Despite the score, the game was more lopsided than the score makes it seem. After the Texas loss to start the season, the Wolverines are stacking wins.

  • After a slow start, Arch Manning and the boys at (1) Texas put the beatdown on Mississippi State, 35-13

Yankees clinch AL’s 1-seed with Guardians Loss

Well. They are crawling to the finish line in these last couple of games, but the boys in pinstriped have officially locked up the AL’s top seed. Somebody will have to beat them in the Bronx to knock them out of the postseason.

It’s been documented in recent Stump’s how much success the Yankees have had in the last decade and a half. They lost a couple of games late to the Orioles and now the Pirates, but with a Guardian’s loss last night, the Yankees have clinched the 1-seed and home-field advantage throughout the AL postseason series’.

If there was EVER a year for a cinema-like Yankees-Dodgers World Series, this would be the year. Judge. Ohtani. New York. LA. It would be legendary! Postseason Baseball is just a few days away, and we’re fired up for it!

Yesterday, but the Good Stuff

Trivia Answer:

C. Mr. Everywhere! Although that would be a cool nickname, nobody was famously known for it. Can’t get over Jerome Bettis just being known as ‘The Bus’! How electric is that?

Can’t thank you enough for sticking to the end of this thing we call The Daily Stump. If you know anybody who might want this bit of daily sports news in their life, send them this link! It would go a long way! Appreciate the hell out of you all!
