Yeah, it might take 162 games to get here, but Postseason Baseball is phenomenal! We’ve got two Game 3’s today, and some major STUMPSETS have already taken place! Something magical is going on in the motor city right now! Outside of Baseball, we’ve got some NFL trade talks as well as the beginning of our NBA Preview series! Let’s roll!
Today’s Trivia🧠
🏀 Who is the oldest NBA player to score 50 points in a single game?
(answer at the bottom of the Stump!)
On This Day…

⚾MLB Hall of Famer Whitey Ford records his career win 232 in an 11-5 season-ending victory with the New York Yankees over the Boston Red Sox to become the winningest pitcher in Yankees’ franchise history.
Appearing in 11 World Series, Ford holds several World Series records, including most pitcher wins (10), strikeouts (94), and games started (22).

🏀NBA Preview: Detroit Pistons

We’re going to talk every team, one a day, until the season starts. We’ll start at the bottom and work up. First, we head to the Motor City.
The Pistons of 2023-24 were quite… forgettable. They managed to finish the year with a record of 14-68, which included a 28-game losing streak in the beginning of the year. When the calendar turned to 2024 the Pistons sat at 3-29. This led to the firing of head coach Monty Williams.
The Pistons went out this offseason and actually made some moves that moved the needle. They started by hiring JB Bickerstaff, the former coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and then went and drafted Ron Holland with the 5th overall pick. Not a bad start.
They added Tobias Harris, Paul Reed, Malik Beasley, and Tim Hardaway Jr. in free agency to pair with their young core. Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duran, Jaden Ivey, and Ausar Thompson are all 23 or younger. That’s an emphasis young core. All have shown significant highs to go along with their growing pains, but none of them are considered “busts” quite yet.
The key to this puzzle is the rise of Cade Cunningham. They signed their former No. 1 overall pick to a rookie max contract this past offseason, and he finished last season healthy for the first time since high school. A full offseason and a full vote of confidence from your front office is a recipe for success. Or so they hope.
🏈 What’s Up With Davante Adams?

WR standout Davante Adams has been near the top of the Wide Receiver totem pole for many years now. With his years of elite play numbered, it seems like he’ll be in a new jersey soon. Could he be reuniting with Aaron Rodgers in New York?
Davante Adams has told the Las Vegas Raiders he wants out. And he has given a list of preferred destinations. At the top of his list are the New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints. Both teams have Quarterbacks that he’s familiar with.
The Cowboys, Steelers, and Bills are all also interested in the Davante Adams sweepstakes. Although we haven’t seen a whole lot from him recently, he still definitely has some stuff left in the tank. He was just ruled out for their Week 5 matchup against the Denver Broncos with a “hamstring injury”. Maybe by Friday on the injury report, it will say Davante is out with a “trade request”.
One of the funniest things regarding the matter is that last week it was alerted that Raiders Head Coach Antonio Pierce liked a post on Instagram saying that Davante Adams had played his last snap as a Raider. Can’t even like posts anymore.
The race for Adam’s is on! He’s gotta end up with Rodgers and the Jets right? RIGHT?!?!
⚾ Tigers, Royals: Underdog Who?

When we came into the season, not many were picking these teams to make runs into the playoffs, but we forgot one thing: GRIT!
The MLB postseason is a weird place. Upsets happen here all the time, I mean, it’s baseball, literally anything can happen on any given night. Luckily for the Tigers and Royals, it hasn’t just been their night, it’s been their season.
The two AL Central teams weren’t expected to do all that much this year. Both teams are young, trying to build around their core. Many thought they were both a year or two away, but they forgot to listen.
The Tigers have been the hottest team in baseball for the last six weeks or so. The pitching and the hitting have complemented each other beautifully. They play baseball the right way, hard and fun. They don’t cut corners, they don’t swing for the fences all the time, they just play smart baseball. They aren’t full of big names, instead, it’s a bunch of dudes who just play for each other. Hats off to manager AJ Hinch for getting this team to where they are today.
The Royals are pretty similar in the fact that nobody really thought much of them entering the season. They were coming off a really ugly 2023 campaign and even 70 wins would’ve been a huge step in the right direction. Instead, they rallied. MLB’s future MVP Bobby Witt Jr. decided to be THAT dude. He’s been an electric factory all year long and led the Royals into the playoffs and the ALDS.
A battle between these two in the ALCS would be absolutely ELECTRIC!
⚽ Champions League Wednesday

Another beautiful day of futbol from across Europe, let’s dive into the blowouts and the nailbiters.
Big Winners: Not nearly as many blowouts today!
Atalanta defeated Shakhtar Donetsk, 3-0, scoring all three of their goals in the first half and just coasting from there
Benfica TROUNCE Atletico, 4-0, score two of their goals on second-half penalty kicks
Liverpool beat Bologna, 2-0, in a tight game where Mohamed Salah was able to extend their lead late into the second half
Tight Ones: Big matchups came down to the wire..
Feyenoord Rotterdam defeated Girona, 3-2, thanks to a 79th minute OWN GOAL from Ladislav Krejci
Aston Villa wins a wire-to-wire thriller over Bayern Munich, 1-0, as Jhon Duran scored the winner in the 79th minute
AS Monaco and Dinamo Zagreb drew, 2-2, thanks to Monaco’s Denis Zakaria 89th minute penalty shot score
Lille SHOCKED Real Madrid, 1-0, to end Real’s 14-game unbeaten streak in the competition
Juventus secured a 3-2 win over RB Leipzig despite being down to 10 men after Michele Di Gregorio was sent off in the 59th minute
⚾ Mets and Brewers: Popcorn NEEDED!

There’s going to be a Game Three in Milwaukee tonight, grab the biggest box of popcorn you got.
The Mets took a lead heading into the late innings last night, but then someone woke up the Brewers. Garrett Mitchell delivered a two-run shot in the eighth inning that lit up the whole state of Wisconsin when it trickled over the fence. From that point on, the Brewers just needed to muster three more outs.
One, two, three. Good morning, good afternoon, good night. Game three. Both teams on paper deserve to win this game, but as we all know, there can only be one.
The Brewers have been one of the most injury-depleted teams in all of baseball this year. Losing key player after key player to season-ending injury. They haven’t blinked. They’ve leaned on guys like Willy Adames, William Contrares, Brice Turang, and Jackson Chourio to produce, and boy have they. While the bullpen has been lights out, the starting pitching has got hot late. The Brew Crew will look to win it in front of their home crowd.
The Mets are an unreal story this year. They started the year pretty cold, everyone counted them out. They kept playing baseball. Eventually, they just couldn’t stop winning. Francisco Lindor finally became the guy they traded for, while guys like Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, and others came up in the clutch. The Mets are always doubted, and I think baseball is more fun when they win. So what do you say, Mets? One more series?
Yesterday, but the Good Stuff❗❗

Trivia Answer:
B. Jamal Crawford! Crawford scored 51 points as a member of the Phoenix Suns in 2019 at the ripe age of 39 years and 20 days old. Michael Jordan is the old to score 40 points in a single game, however, Crawford holds the mark in 50-point performances.
