⛳️ "Relief" at The Masters
A potty break never hurt a soul.
Good Morning, Stumpers!
The term ‘relief’ in golf refers to when your ball ends up too close to a curb, a tree, or a sprinkler head, you sometimes get ‘relief’ which is being able to move the ball two a few feet away. But when we say yesterday we had some relief at the Masters…we absolute mean the other type of relief. Yes, a golfer decided to relieve in himself in the woods. Iconic! Great stump for you today! Let’s do it!

🚨 Goalie GOAL in the Playoffs
There comes a time in every NHL season where a goalie somehow puts the puck in the opposing net from across the ice. It was until our guy Ron Hextall put one in the back of the net as a member of the Flyers that a goalie scored in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
On this day in 1989, Ron Hextall and his Philadelphia Flyers went to the Washington Capitals for a Stanley Cup Playoff matchup. Late in the game, with the Flyers up big, Ron Hextall, who was the Flyers goalie in that game, was able to shoot and score into an empty Washington Capitals net. This would be the first goal scored by a goalie in NHL playoffs history.

⛳️ Amateur Takes “Relief” at Augusta

Look guys, I get it. As an adult male, I’ve peed in some pretty unsavory places. Especially on the golf course, because sometimes it just can’t wait. I can’t imagine what I’d do on the PGA Tour when I had to pee, but I don’t ever have to worry about that. Jose Luis Ballester, however, did have to worry about that, and he took matters into his own hands.
On the 13th hole at Augusta National Golf Course, there lies a creek between the fairway and the green. Specifically, it’s Rae’s Creek. The hole is arguably the most well-known hole in golf, due to its unique design and challenging green, as well as its beauty and backdrop. For many golfers, even Rory McIlroy, this hole can eat you alive and spit you back up while simultaneously destroying your score. Many golfers need to head to the drop zone or take relief, but for one amateur yesterday, relief meant a whole other thing.
Jose Luis Ballester, a 21-year-old Spaniard who plays golf at Arizona State, was grouped up with Justin Thomas Scottie Scheffler yesterday. When JT had some trouble on the 12th green, Ballester decided it was time to pee. But instead of using the port-o-potty to the left of the 13th hole, he decided to go into the woods and take care of business in Rae’s Creek.
He thought nobody would see him, but that was anything but the case. The fans quickly took notice, and as he emerged from the woods, the crowd erupted. It was probably the loudest cheers he got all day, according to Jose. I mean, when you gotta go you gotta go. I can’t hate on the guy. I do, however, question his awareness skills, as a simple question to anybody nearby would’ve allowed him to see the bathrooms right on the next hole.
I respect this. As a man who has taken his fair share of bathroom breaks in the woods on a golf course. PGA Tour players tell you all the time, they try to play these big events like nobody is watching. So, for Jose, he was just following what all the pros told him to do. He just respects the game.
Bonus: On top of this, the guy did get a lot of slack for his hat choice yesterday, people said it was too casual for Augusta. We had an SGS operative on this EARLY! Shoutout JS! Funny how everything about Jose was talked about yesterday besides his golf.

⛳️ Day One at The Masters
If you played our trivia today, you’d know that the Day One leader of The Masters has won the whole thing before, twice! It happened in 2019 with Justin Thomas, and once more in 2008. For Justin Rose, that’s good news, because he looked untouchable yesterday.
Justin Rose jumped out to a three-stroke lead at the end of Day One thanks to a red-hot putter and some beautiful approach shots. He’s going to have to continue his good play, as many of the top players in the world are still very much within striking distance. Speaking of the world’s top players, World No.1 Scottie Scheffler eased his way to a second place 4-under score. He sits in second along with Corey Conners of Canada and Ludvig Aberg of Sweden.
Behind them sits Major Winners Bryson DeChambeau (-3), and Jason Day (-2). At -1 is a massive list of notable golfers, 16 to be exact. This includes Min Woo Lee, Brian Harman, Bubba Watson, Victor Hovland, Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowrey, Cam Smith, and 65-year-old Fred Couples. Of the noteworthy players who struggled, we have Jon Rahm (+3), Tony Finau (+3), Adam Scott (+5), Russel Henley (+7), and an absolutely brutal day for Nick Dunlap (+18).
👶 Browns’ Watson Using Rehab as Fuel
I think I just threw up in my mouth. Can we just take this out of the headlines? It’s a nonfactor. Let’s just let it die. Before I go off of a cliff here, I am indeed a Browns fan. So, take this with a grain of salt. Watson was supposed to be to the savior in Cleveland, but he’s been nothing but a headache since he was traded by Houston. This Watson thing needs to stop being a thing. In a video posted to his Instagram, Watson says the following: “Everyone’s doubting me. Everyone don’t believe in me. Everyone don’t think that I can get back to where I was. But I know and I believe the work that I put in, what I believe in myself.” Great! Cool! Fantastic! But no duh nobody believes in you, you’ve been awful in Cleveland. It’s been the worst trade in NFL history, the worst contract in NFL history. Fans have every right to not believe in you. Look, I’m not here to crap on the guy, there’s been enough said about him in the media over the news. I’m here to say this: I just want Deshaun Watson to no longer be on my newsfeed until he can finally play football, and at a relatively high level. Until then, I’m fine living in a fantasy land that somehow the Browns will be okay in the coming years even while Watson drains their payroll.
🏀 Creighton Hires “Head Coach in Waiting”
I feel like I’ve heard this before, but usually it happens at the best basketball schools in the country. No offense to Creighton, but the last “head coach in waiting” I can think of was John Scheyer at Duke with Coach K, and that isn’t quite the same as Creighton. High Point men’s basketball coach, Alan Huss, stepped down from his position yesterday to rejoin Greg McDermott’s staff at Creighton to be named the head-coach-in waiting. Huss, 46, was an assistant under McDermott for six seasons before taking over at Creighton in 2023. Huss guided High Point to a 56-15 record, including two Big South regular season championships and one NCAA Tournament appearance. A Creighton alum, he played for the Bluejays from 1997 to 2001. I get you want to coach at your alma mater, and there may be some other reason for heading back, but from the outside looking in I don’t understand why he doesn’t continue sharpening his coaching skills on his own as a head coach. What the hell do I know, though, I just type things. Maybe it’ll be the best move ever for Creighton.
