🏀 KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR DOUBLE-TROUBLE!
On this day in 2023, LeBron James surpassed 38,000 career points in a game against the 76ers. He joined the 38,000 point club whose only member before then was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar!
On this day in 2024, Joel Embiid recorded his 16th straight 30-point, 10-rebound game! This tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 16-game mark for this streak!
Long story short, Kareem was all-time!

🏈 A.J. Brown BOOKGATE!
What’s the deal with this whole book-reading thing on the sideline?
In the middle of Wild Card Sunday, we had a relatively low fireworks game between the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles. A.J. Brown was held for just 1 catch for 10 yards on the day. The only news surrounding him after the game was the fact that the cameras caught him reading a book on the sideline in between drives.
Social Media has had a field day with this, labeling it as ‘Not locked in’ and ‘Disgruntled’. Nick Sirianni took to the podium to say that he was absolutely fine with it and that it was ‘lazy’ reporting to call A.J. Brown ‘disgruntled’. He went to say that Brown had been reading this book for a while on the sideline and this was the first week that the cameras caught it.
A couple of things here. First off, why does it always seem like the Eagles and Sirianni get in the middle of this stuff? The guy is just a punching bag for this type of stuff.
Two. It’s so interesting to see the interactions between the sports world and the sports media. People will see one thing and absolutely run with it. I will say A.J. Brown had to have known that eventually, this would come out and the media would have a field day.
Three. And maybe the funniest thing about this whole situation. The book was “Inner Excellence” by Jim Murphy. Eagles fans have RALLIED around this book and are flooding the reviews of it on all websites. The book is now #6 on the Amazon charts for the week! Just goes to show how much pull these athletes have and how loyal fans are.
Gets me thinking, what do we gotta do to get somebody scrolling through The Daily Stump on the sideline? If anybody has any ideas, let us know!

🏈 David Montgomery says that he is ‘ready’ to play in the Divisional Round against the Washington Commanders after an MCL injury! This would be a massive get-back for the Lions. This game may have one of the bigger spreads of the weekend, but man, would it be special for the Commanders to shock the world! That being said it will be a tall task , especially is David Montgomery is back in business!
⛳️ The TGL (TMRW Golf League) debuted last night with a 3 vs 3 match between Team Jupiter (Tiger Woods, Kevin Kisner, Max Homa) and Team LA (Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala). This is a new goal league that has started up and has the golf world a buzz! It was a fun showing despite an absolute ROUT! Team LA got the victory, 12-1, but this is something to just keep on your radar!
🏀 If you’re still waiting for the CAVS to come back to earth, you might be waiting forever! These guys got a big-time road win over the Pacers, who had a 6-game winning streak coming in. The Cavs are now 34-5 and have a 6-game lead over the Boston Celtics in the East! It might all come down to Cavs-Celtics in the East, a familiar sight over the last decade!
