🏀 Sweet Sixteen Finalized
64 down to 16 in four days! Nothing like it...
Good Morning, Stumpers!
Everybody was waiting for the buzzer beater! Well, we got it yesterday! WATCH HERE! We had a jam-packed day with Madness, Viktor Hovland, and the Frozen Four! Talk about a big-time Sunday! Outside of sports, we’ve got an EAGLES song for you today! Just juice all around today for you! Let’s start this week off great! LETS GO!
🏀 SGS Bracket Challenge 🏀
🚨 Final Entries Count: 1035 🚨
After Saturday’s Action…
After four days of Madness, we’ve got 4 brackets above the rest! Again, this group is incredible! The following four brackets are tied for first at the 99.9th percentile! Absolutely NUTS! Shoutout to “Fec fam”, “San Diego 88”, “Clayton Hatfield”, and “Joystick Justice”! Unreal stuff from all four!
Yesterday we lost the Huskies, the hometown heroes! That was the seventh most popular selection with 50 brackets having them as the winner!
We also lost (3) Iowa State, the home of 22 winners as well
Message from the admin: For what is a bracket challenge, without honesty? My bracket, Zaid - SGS, has the fattest ice cube imaginable next to it and is in 905th place out of 1035 entries. The tournament started on Thursday, and yet, somehow, my bracket was dead on Wednesday. Hell, it might have been dead on Tuesday. That being said, I am already working on my 2026 bracket, and it looks perfect so far! Is a #13 vs #12 in the Championship far-fetched? Whatever, we’ll get into that next year!

🏀 Dunk City Stays Dancing

There have been some insane Cinderellas in the history of the NCAA Tournament, but not many were as electric as the 2013 Florida Golf Coast basketball team that went by the name of “Dunk City”.
On this day in 2013, FGCU shocked the men’s college basketball world again when they defeated San Diego State 81-71 to become the first No. 15 seed to reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. They would go on to lose to Florida in the next round, but they are still widely remembered as one of the most fun Cinderellas in tournament history.

EIGHT. MORE. BALL. GAMES.
(1) Florida def. (8) UConn, 77-75: A magical three-year run for the Huskies has come to an end. They showed their championship pedigree in a game where many did not even give them a chance. They were 3 minutes away from shocking the world! Florida continues to show why they are one of the best teams in the country!
(1) Duke def. (9) Baylor, 89-66: Duke. They continue to show their dominance in the early rounds. Baylor looked good in the First Round, but they were thoroughly outmatched by the Blue Devils. Cooper Flagg was unbelievable with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. The hype is real, and it has continued in March!
(3) Kentucky def. (6) Illinois, 84-75: It was turnovers that killed the Illini yesterday. They lost the turnover battle 14-5. That, combined with great play from Brea, Butler, and Oweh is what helped the Wildcats advance to the Sweet 16!
(2) Alabama def. (7) Saint Mary’s, 80-66: Alabama is heading to their 3rd straight Sweet 16 after their win over Saint Mary’s. Their close call against Robert Morris seemed to be a bit of a wake up call as they were in command against the Gaels!
(4) Maryland def. (12) Colorado State, 72-71: Everybody was waiting for the buzzer-beater! Well, here it was! MUST WATCH ENDING HERE!
(6) Ole Miss def. (3) Iowa State, 91-78: Man did Ole Miss look good here! When they play Ole Miss defense, and they hit shots at the rate they did yesterday, they are a very tough team to beat! The Cyclones were on the wrong end of a buzzsaw last night!
(2) Michigan State def. (10) New Mexico, 71-63: New Mexico went into the half down 2! They played a great game with heart and grit! But sometimes, the better teams are just the better teams! Spartans and Izzo advance!
(4) Arizona def. (5) Oregon, 87-83: We ended the first four days of ball the only way we could…with a close one! Ended at 12:18 AM on the East Coast, who else was watching the game like this… 🛌 ? In the end, Arizona got the narrow win just by making their free throws at the end, and Caleb Love will face off against Duke once again! Cinema!

🏒 🏆️ Frozen Four Updates: The OTHER NCAA Tourney
Yes, there’s ANOTHER big-time tournament going on in the college athletics world right now. In fact, there are two of them.
Men’s Hockey Tournament: The men’s side had their selection show yesterday morning and the regions were announced and teams found out their destiny. The top four seeds are as follows: (1) Boston College, (2) Michigan State, (3) Maine, (4) Western Michigan. Bentley and UConn are making their first tournament appearances, but the bracket is stuffed with historically dominant programs. BC will be joined by Bentley, Providence, and Denver. Michigan State will have Cornell, Boston U, and Ohio State. Maine’s side of the bracket has Penn State, UConn and Quinnipiac. Western Michigan’s side features Minnesota State, Minnesota, and UMass-Amherst. First games start on the 27th.
Women’s National Championship: We were all down to two! And last night, it was Wisconsin who got the best of Ohio State in OT! A rebound goal brought it to 4-3 in extra time, and it was Wisconsin who won their 8th Women’s Hockey Title! This caps a program-record 38 wins on the season! This was the third straight time where these two teams met for the National Title! The Badgers got the best of them now for the second time in two years! A great rivalry in Women’s Hockey!
⛳️ Valspar Ends With HOVLAND on Top!
After missing three straight cuts heading into this week, Viktor Hovland was the last one to think he’d be holding up a trophy at the end of this week! Sometimes, lightning strikes when you least expect it to! Yesterday, Hovland won his first event since 2023 with a one-shot victory over Justin Thomas! Hovland’s 4-under yesterday was enough to win by one stroke! Missed seeing Vic on the top of a leaderboard, it’s a nice sight! This catapults him back into the World Top 10 ahead of a busy stretch in Golf!
🐂 Texas Fires and Hires Coach in Same Day
Word got around the college basketball world early yesterday morning that the University of Texas men’s program had parted ways with their head coach Rodney Terry. A shock that, admittedly, did not shock many. What shocked people was the news that followed. Just hours later, the rumor mills were churning once again, and Texas apparently had a deal in place with Xavier head coach Sean Miller. Whether you think it’s ironic or not, it’s interesting that Xavier just so happened to be the team that eliminated Texas from the NCAA Tournament this year in one of the most impressive comeback wins of the NCAA season. Miller has been the head coach at Xavier twice, as well as a prolonged and successful stop at Arizona.
